Here’s Proof That Company Values Can Change Lives
The holiday season is a time to celebrate – friends, family and, of course, the miracle that is the breakfast taco. But more importantly, it’s a time to spread the joy of the season to others. This year, Balcom hoped to do just that.
The sock drive is an example of how everything we do at Balcom – from community work to client projects to company happy hours – begins with our team’s values:
Every idea starts with a question. We asked: What’s a need in our community, and how can we help?
We take responsibility seriously here at the B – responsibility to our clients, our teammates and our community.
Being nice is about more than the good ole Texas “How are you?” It’s about working to understand where other people are coming from, and going above and beyond to extend a helping hand.
With limited time and resources, we found creative ways to spread the news about the sock drive – from social media to email and word-of-mouth.
Doing the right thing isn’t always easy – especially at a time of year when people have many causes to support. But no one ever accomplished anything without trying.
“There’s no ‘I’ in ‘team.’” “Two heads are better than one.” “Teamwork makes the dream work.” We asked teammates, vendors and clients to help us pair the love – because “the more the merrier.” OK, you get the picture.
After three weeks of collecting socks, we garnered:
- More than 750 pairs of socks collected for Presbyterian Night Shelter and The Women’s Center of Tarrant County, plus two bathrobes
- Participation from nearly 80 percent of Bs
- Donations from more than 20 clients, vendors and friends of the agency
- More than 460 unique landing page views
