Balcom Agency Creative Director Carol Glover Receives Silver Medal Award from American Advertising Federation – Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas – June 19, 2013 – Balcom Agency is pleased to announce that Carol Glover, the agency’s creative director, has been named the 2013 Silver Medal Award recipient by the American Advertising Federation – Fort Worth (AAF–FW). Each year, AAF member clubs bestow the Silver Medal honor upon an exceptional member of the local advertising community. After receiving nominations, the selection committee chooses the recipient based upon his or her contributions to his or her company, creative ability, contributions to the general advancement of advertising, and contributions to the community.

Glover, who is appropriately nicknamed “Champion of Wow” at Balcom, earned both a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s in English from Texas Christian University. She has been an adjunct professor for her alma mater for the past 18 years, teaching Creative Communications – an upper-level advertising course at the Schieffer School of Journalism. Glover has a long history in Fort Worth, notably at Witherspoon Marketing Communications, where she worked as senior writer, creative director and vice president.

Glover joined Balcom in 2004, where she leads a team of art directors, writers, web developers, social media specialists and designers, motivating them to deliver work that gets results. She also collaborates with account teams and clients, developing on-target strategies and building brands that work. Throughout her time at Balcom, Glover has presented and executed new creative for some of Fort Worth’s best-loved organizations and companies, including CASA of Tarrant County, Cook Children’s Health Care System, Justin Boots, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Lena Pope Home, Southwest Bank, Streams and Valleys, United Way of Tarrant County, USMD and Weaver. Glover served on the AAF-FW board from 2005-2007, and her award-winning work has been recognized by numerous organizations, including “Adweek,” the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, the American Association of Museums, AAF and the International Newsmedia Marketing Association, to name a few.

“Carol has a brilliant creative mind that's married to an equally brilliant analytical side,” said Stuart Balcom, president and CEO of Balcom Agency. “She is the consummate professional, leader, motivator, judge, referee and mentor. Success and achievement are in her DNA, and I can't imagine anyone more deserving of this recognition.”

Glover’s recognition marks the second Balcom team member to receive the Silver Medal Award. Production Director Lynne Swihart is the 2009 recipient.

The American Advertising Federation, a not-for-profit industry association, established the Silver Medal program in 1959 as a way to recognize the outstanding contributions, creative excellence and social responsibility of advertising professionals within the field. The Silver Medal is the highest national award given at the local level.
