We believe great marketing is a marriage of art and science, where insight, creativity and technology work brilliantly together. We’re not your average advertising agency, social media shop, web group or PR firm. We’re all of those things rolled into one. And we’re adding a director to the team who can lead public relations planning and execution for our clients. The successful director of public relations will have eight to 10 years of experience and be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and jumping into the work at hand. The right candidate will also work with agency leadership to update existing workflow and approach, build out elements and grow the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively initiate and develop public relations campaigns that provide opportunities, gain media coverage, support reputation management and grow positive client sentiment
- Serve as a subject matter expert for public relations tactics, strategizing in conjunction with our account service and media teams
- Expertly work with the team in moments of internal and/or crisis communications needs
- Lead regarding writing news releases, media inquiries, client preparedness (including coaching/training) and responsiveness
- Manage a variety of projects for a diverse clientele
- Keep team informed of client and agency opportunities alike (articles, awards, tie-ins to social content calendars, etc.)
- Actively participate in meetings with clients, vendors and colleagues where public relations is proposed or is a current tactic within the client’s strategic plans
- Prepare, present and execute public relations plans to meet client goals; be comfortable designing the playbook per client project
- Work within budgets and estimates
- Work in conjunction with our analytics and media teams to measure the Key Performance Indicators for all projects
- Support new business endeavors by contributing to proposal development and presentations
Qualifications:
- Experience developing messaging, writing press releases, initiating communications plans, and creating scripts, media briefings, marketing communications and similar outputs
- Have a media contacts list (local, NPB, industries, etc.) that you nurture regularly and a desire to pitch the press
- Clear, concise writing that follows AP style
- Working knowledge of social marketing platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok and other developing platforms as a complement to PR efforts
- Some knowledge of Google AdWords, display and mobile advertising
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Slides, Sheets, etc.)
- While the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential is not required for this position, it is certainly a plus
- Must be legally able to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- At this time, this position does not have any direct reports
B Interview Process
Be prepared for Google meetings with multiple team members to accommodate our hybrid workstyle. Applicants will have an initial video interview with the hiring manager, and may progress to a second interview with leaders of other teams before a decision is made. While remote work is part of our hybrid environment, our team may ask for an in-person breakfast or lunch meet up if applicants are nearby.
