THE BALCOM AGENCY NAMED PUBLIC RELATIONS AGENCY OF RECORD FOR NOCONA ATHLETIC GOODS COMPANY

FORT WORTH, Texas – Sept. 6, 2006 – Nocona Athletic Goods Company has selected the Balcom Agency as its public relations agency of record. Balcom will handle all corporate communications, media relations and event publicity for the company.

Nocona Athletic Goods Company makes Nokona baseball and softball gloves, as well as baseball bats and balls, equipment bags, leather bags and luggage, football helmets, shoulder pads and shoulder pad accessories. Recognized as the last handmade, American-made baseball gloves, Nokona gloves are made from buffalo, kangaroo and high-quality cowhide.

“Thanks to one of our board members, we discovered the impressive work the Balcom Agency has completed for its clients,” said Robby Storey, president and CEO of Nocona Athletic Goods Company. “Little did we know how quickly we would need Balcom’s services.”

In the early morning hours of July 18, Nocona Athletic Goods Company suffered the devastating loss of its 79-year-old Nocona, Texas-based factory to an electrical fire, and needed immediate public relations counsel.

“Within hours of the fire and our call, Balcom team members were on site in Nocona and fielding media inquiries,” Storey continued. “Balcom helped get the word out that the fire destroyed our plant, but our two most valuable assets — our employees and the Nokona name — survived. The fire burned down a factory that day, not our company.

“We look forward to Balcom providing this same level of service and strategic recommendations as we launch new products and announce new developments within our company.”

Within 30 days of the fire, the company found a new, interim location in the old Nocona Boot Company. The factory is almost at full production capabilities now and employees have been busy producing the most popular glove lines, as well as the sought-after “Baby’s First Glove.”

“All of us at Balcom are excited about the opportunity to help Nocona build on its well-earned reputation as the elite glove manufacturer in the industry,” said Stuart Balcom, president of the Balcom Agency. “We are committed to making ‘the best of the best’ even more dominant in the sporting goods industry.”

Nocona Leather Goods Company was founded in 1926, later becoming Nocona Athletic Goods Company. The Nokona baseball glove was trademarked in 1934 (spelled with a “k” when the U.S. Patent Office would not allow the name of an incorporated town to be registered). The company has continued the tradition of handmade, American-made baseball gloves to this day, with the addition of a few sewing and die-cutting machines. The Nokona glove is used by countless professional athletes around the world. For more information visit: www.nokona.com.
