THE BALCOM AGENCY WINS ADDY® AWARDS FOR AMERICAN ADVERTISING FEDERATION DISTRICT 10 AWARDS CEREMONY

Balcom Agency Wins More Gold ADDY Awards Than Any Other Agency In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 27, 2007 — The Balcom Agency won three out of the six gold ADDY® Awards presented to Fort Worth agencies and corporations at the 10th District American Advertising Federation (AAF) awards ceremony on Saturday, April 21 during the organization’s annual convention in Fort Worth, Texas.  Competing against advertising agencies in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas, the awards are given for creative excellence in advertising. The Balcom Agency won golds for work created on behalf of The Metropolitan, a high-rise condominium in Dallas; the Sara Wallace Tea, a private event invitation; and the Texas Ranger Association Foundation (TRAF). In addition, the agency won three bronze awards for Justin Brands, LifeGift and Harris Methodist Hospital.

The District 10 ADDY Award competition is a three-tier national competition for the AAF’s prestigious national ADDY Award, the premier industry recognition for creative excellence in advertising. The gold and silver winners from District 10 will now advance to compete at the national AAF ADDY awards ceremony in June in Louisville, Kentucky.

“We’re so proud that our work is recognized as the best in the AAF 10th District, but at the end of the day, it’s about creating great work that creates bottom-line results for our clients,” said Stuart Balcom. “We thank our clients for allowing us to develop creative work that stands out in the marketplace.”

The following is a recap of the work that achieved gold:

The Metropolitan: The Balcom Agency developed a campaign for The Metropolitan to create awareness and help generate sales for condominiums in the high-rise development located in downtown Dallas. The campaign included newspaper advertisements, direct mail, signage, online advertising and out-of-home media. The creative team included Carol Glover, creative director; Holly Agular, art director; and Tina Widner, copywriter.

Wallace Tea:  Art director Cassie Kruemecke designed an invitation for an event hosted at Heirloom’s Coffee and Tea. The piece paid homage to traditional tea packaging down to the smallest detail.

Texas Ranger Association Foundation (TRAF): The TRAF is a not-for-profit organization that helps raise funds for the education and healthcare needs of current and retired Texas Rangers and their families. The Balcom Agency developed new fundraising materials for the organization to use in its membership drive and to solicit funds from foundations, corporations and individuals. The materials were packaged in a unique wood case that could be easily mailed, yet invoked the legacy and heritage of the Texas Rangers. The creative team included Glover; Cassie Kruemecke, art director; Widner, copywriter; and Lynne Swihart, production manager.

The bronze awards won by the agency included: an illustration for marketing materials, “The Cowboy Way At Work” promoting Justin’s Original Workboot brand; photography for LifeGift Organ Donation Center’s annual calendar and report to community; and a television spot for Harris Methodist Hospital entitled “I didn’t choose cancer.”
