Fort Worthology
If you're from Fort Worth or if you've lived here any amount of time, I think you'd agree that it's not a very small town but retains its small town feel and charm. It's not uncommon for you to run into people you know when you're out running errands. It's full of unique details and quaint places that make people gush, "Ohmygosh, you have to go!" It is, by my standards, an ideal place to live.
No matter how hard you try, though – it's a little hard to stay ahead of the curve. I commute into Fort Worth every day from the mid-cities, so I'm not always on Magnolia to see the newest stores or downtown to note changes.
Enter Fort Worthology.
Fort Worthology is a blog by Kevin Buchanan who describes himself as a "local writer/photographer/architecture nerd." Really? He does a little bit of everything, and in truth? He seems to know all of the cool goings-on – everything from the Avenue of Light to the new Love Shack and everything in between. Fort Worthology makes it easy to keep up with events (both large and small), allows you to learn about cool, new places and read awesome, detailed reviews, most of which come with kick-ass photography. What more can you ask for?
Per Fort Worthology.com:
Fort Worthology is a site dedicated to encouraging and chronicling smart urban growth in Fort Worth, Texas. A city beset by suburban sprawl for many years, Fort Worth is now starting to see the benefits of walkable, pedestrian-friendly, denser, mixed-use urban development. Fort Worthology brings you info about new projects, upcoming events, restaurant and shop reviews, architectural showcases, and quality urban design.
It was Fort Worthology that informed me the Star-Telegram Classifieds building would be demolished. From it I also learned about Ellerbe Fine Foods, Joe Frank homes, and T&P Tavern. It's informative, interesting and priceless information. Best of all - it comes right to my feed reader, eliminating me having to hope that the newspaper might eventually get around to saying something about it.
I wish every town was fortunate enough to be home to their own Kevin Buchanan and Fort Worthology to keep us all up to date on our city and its changes. Thanks, Kevin, for keeping us in the know! We really appreciate and enjoy it.
