Clean Out, Move On

I seem to acquire more than I need without realizing it. In emptying cabinets for my renovation (painting ends today!), I found multiple bottles of carpet cleaner. 70% of the floors in my house are tile. Why do I need several bottles of carpet cleaner? I have a couple of brand new bottles of shampoo, two or three kinds of mouthwash, more lotion than anybody should be allowed to have – but why?

The answer is: I have no clue.

The biggest pain in the rear about the cabinet refinishing was taking every single little tiny thing out of every single cabinet. The optimist in me also sees this as the greatest reward. Why? Because I have no excuse not go to through everything and throw those things away.

I am a stellar organizer. I may be an ever better thrower awayer. I can say, "I don't need this" without a "But!" or "Maybe I'll use it one day..." I just toss it out and move on.

I must say that I'm a little disappointed in myself to have allowed things to get this "bad". Because I pride myself on not having a bunch of extraneous junk, it's disheartening to find that I have so much – well ... extraneous junk! Luckily – there's an easy way to put a stop to that, which is exactly what I plan to do!

Lookout, cabinet contents – here I come!

Note to readers:
For those of you who have sent e-mails regarding the cabinet renovations, I thought I'd give you an update! The painting will wrap up today, but it'll be a few days before I can put everything back in them and hang the doors. Because we opted for latex paint, I want to make sure that it has a few days to really cure before I try to attach hinges! Check back here for a full report on the before and after next week.
