Break the Mold

Let's say, for sake of argument, that you're a web designer. One assumes that since your business card reads "Web Designer" that you can design a website. Such a title implies that you are more than capable of this task.

Why is it, do you suppose, that blogs examining good design, industry standards and best practices take the time to walk you through how to create a very specific site design, step by step?

In my opinion, you (the designer) are tasked with creating a unique solution to fit the needs of your clients, not to create ten copies of the same website. And sure, you might say that these posts are teaching you technique but even at that – they teach average techniques.

I'm really just at a loss as to why a reuptable, established site that has the ability and following to delve deep into the world of web would occasionally rise to the surface and gasp for air. If the roles were reversed and I was running short on topics, I'd rather skip posting for a day or two than litter my reader with ridiculousness.
