Be a Kid
Merriam-Webster defines a motion picture "a series of pictures projected on a screen in rapid succession with objects shown in successive positions slightly changed so as to produce the optical effect of a continuous picture in which the objects move."
So many times, we settle into over-sized seats to watch stars grace the big screen. Will Smith teaches Kevin James to abandon his geekdom in an effort to captivate Amber Valletta which he ends up doing just by being himself. Daniel Radcliffee, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson team up to battle just about every bad thing that can exist in a land of witchcraft and wizardry. George Clooney and Brad Pitt (with their closest posse of friends) cheat casinos out of hefty sums of money. What I think we forget, sometimes, is that a million and a half years ago (ok, maybe mid-twentieth century?) motion pictures were far different then they are now. They really were a series of pictures, hand drawn, carefully colored and artfully assembled. I think it's this technique that has made me fall in love with Pixar.
Pixar Animation Studios creates my very favorite films. With each release, I am in awe of the big dreams and beautiful execution. From the time that Luxo hops onto the screen, a throw-back to their first movie created in 1986, I am delighted. They have allowed me to fall in love with a rat, a race car and a wooden toy, none of which really exist. These movies are smart – written on one level to entertain children and another to amuse adults. They ooze brilliance.
Occasionally, I catch myself thinking, "Is it silly that as I cross the bridge from my early twenties to my late twenties, I still allow myself to love these movies?" Finally, I have decided that no, it's not silly at all. These movies are an art. They are both inspiring and creative and down-right delightful. I never have to shield my eyes or cover my ears while the story unfolds. And I just think that now, with everything you see on the news, hear on the radio or read online, it's nice to remember the simple pleasures of being a kid.

I'm assuming you've seen Up?? SO so so good although my favorite is Monsters Inc. Ingenious!
I share you love of pixar and own every one. :)
I haven't seen it yet, but I am SO looking forward to it!! Nice knowing there are other folks who are as into Pixar as I am! :o)
Personally, I still prefer hand-drawn animation over computer-generated (call me old-fashioned).
That being said, I am a fan of Pixar. I think it's their story-telling that truly makes them great. "Up" could have been hand-drawn and it *still* would have been a brilliant movie.
I'm glad you said this because I got the impression from your tweet after you saw Up that it wasn't the most amazing thing of all time. Bad interpretation on my part!
I thought the 3D wasn't really worth it. (and in this case, I mean those 3D glasses- not the CG modeling itself)
Great movie, though! (I'm also kind of a voice-over snob, but I thought Ed Asner and Bob Peterson were especially nice fits. I'm never a fan of celebrity voices just for celebrity's sake - like you see in most animated films.)
*raises eyebrow* It comes with glasses? That's kinda nerdy and makes me chuckle.
Well, depending on the theatre, you can catch a 2D or a 3D version.
The 3D version costs a little more so you can rent an ill-fitting pair of glasses. (Or maybe I just have a big head!)
So we're gonna add a big head to your description? You're tall. You're old. And now, you have a big head. This is really getting out of control... :P
I think I'll opt for the 2D unless you (or anyone else) thinks that the 3D is just rock-your-world awesome. Thoughts?
